The Derry Trojans kicking off the 1st quarter with a Trojan touchdown. McDowells’ catch in the endzone for a 7 point lead, with Detore as the passer on the play.
McDowell leads the team in receiving yards as Detore follows leading in rushing yards. Both players carrying 22 yards under their belts.
Sam Jones pushes down the field on a 41 yard pass by Detore, which led the way to a second touchdown for the Trojans as Detore rushes in for the score. With the Trojans still a touchdown away from Southmoreland, there was hope for them to score and take the lead. Amari Graham reels in a 40+ yard pass, but soon after a flag is thrown on the play, putting them back to trying to catch up for the win. The Trojans battle to get another touchdown, but it just wasn’t enough. Hunter Wack ends this quarter off well with an interception, with 9 seconds remaining on the clock
Amari Graham may not have got a touchdown last quarter, he manages to bring in an 11 yard touchdown as Chance White kicks the field goal making the score, 20-21. By the end of the quarter two players are in need for medical assistance, Dylan Rhodes and Elijah Penich.
Cain Latta on the block forcing Southmoreland to punt down to the Trojans as they fight to score another touchdown to win the game. As a 1:28 sits on the clock, hope for a Trojan win still stands. Less than 30 yards away from the endzone the Trojans flame continues to burn, but quickly extinguished soon after with an interception.
Southmoreland holds onto the ball as long as possible to secure the win forcing them to punt the ball. As the ball soars through the air it finds itself to “bop” off the side of Flacks helmet, this allowing Southmoreland to hold the ball for the rest of the game.
