Derry Trojans Varsity Softball fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-3 loss to Marion Center on Thursday. Marion Center scored on a double by Hill in the first inning and a error during Miller’s at bat in the second inning.

The Derry Trojans Varsity Softball struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Marion Center, giving up 13 runs.

Marion Center got things moving in the first inning, when Roush grounded out, scoring one run.

Derry Trojans Varsity Softball tallied three runs in the third inning. Izzy DePalma and Carissa Bateman each drove in runs during the inning.

Marion Center scored four runs in the third inning. Moore, Mallory, and Miller each had RBIs in the frame.

Hill took the win for Marion Center. The ace went seven innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out six and walking one.

Freshman starter Maizie Legge took the loss for Derry Trojans Varsity Softball. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and striking out two.

Derry Trojans Varsity Softball smacked one home run on the day. Bateman had a long ball in the third inning.

Derry Trojans Varsity Softball racked up nine hits on the day. Alexis Jellison, Shelby Glick, and Sarah Dettling each racked up multiple hits for Derry Trojans Varsity Softball. DePalma and Bateman had all of Derry’s RBI’s.

Marion Center collected 13 hits on the day. Hill, Lipsie, Rougeaux, and Moore all managed multiple hits for Marion Center. Marion Center didn’t commit a single error in the field. Urbani had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
