Norwin scored in every inning on Tuesday at Wild Things Park in Washington, PA, en-route to a convincing 12-2 win over the Trojans.
After scoring a run in the opening inning on back to back hits by Austin Siko and Ryan Bushey, and an RBI single off the bat of Brayden Mickinac, the Trojans possible big inning would end on a hard ground ball off the bat of Ryan Hood, which turned into a 6-4-3 double play.
The Knights struck for two in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead, but Derry answered in the second after a Zack Karaschak lead off triple, an RBI groundout off the bat of starting pitcher sophomore Tyler Cymmerman tied the score at 2-2.
Little did the Trojans know that would be the only two runs they would muster on the night.
The Knights score three in the bottom of the second, and added another in the third, followed by three in the fourth, a two spot in the fifth, and the game winning tally in the sixth inning to send the Trojans Home early.
Cymmerman took the loss going 3 2/3 inning’s and giving up nine runs with only five of them earned. Nate Angus and Matt McDowell pitched in relief for DA.
Norwin, the #2 team in their 6A section, was led by Nick Fleming, who finished 4-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. Fleming doubled and also smashed a towering two-run homer to left field.
Clay Shelander picked up the win going three innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits. Aiden Shepherd pitched two scoreless innings striking out five, and Garrett Senchur pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
Derry will conclude its season on Wednesday traveling to section foe Indiana at 4pm.
