Derry wasted no time Friday night scoring three touchdowns on their first four offensive plays in a 53-20 throttling over winless Uniontown at Trojan Stadium. Justin flack scored his 16th and 17th touchdowns in just two carries totaling 33 yards to get Derry off to a 13-0 lead. Flack also recovered a fumble that led to his second score from eight yards away. Derry would get an interception by their ball-hawk corner Matt McDowell, and added two more first quarter tallies on runs by Hunter Hebenthal from 29 yards away, and Justin Huss from 10 yards out to give Derry a 27-0 lead after one quarter. Hebenthal struck pay dirt again with a 65 yard scamper, and the Trojans led 34-6 at the half. The Trojans added a late score in the third quarter on a third TD run by Hebenthal from 22 yards away. Then in the fourth quarter, Bastien Anderson scored on an 11 yard jaunt and Dom DeLuca busted one up the middle for the final TD of the night from 23 yards out. Robert Boyer added three PAT’s and Alex Simon kicked two.
Derry, by virtue of North Catholic’s 27-0 win at Elizabeth Forward will head to Cougar Mountain at Yough next week sharing a first place conference tie with EF and North Catholic. Derry currently holds the tiebreaker between the three teams.
The Trojans improve to (6-1) overall and (4-1) in conference play.
The Trojans played without starting two way players Colton Nemcheck and Max Malis, and starting offensive lineman Lucas Ciocco, who sat out for his second straight game.
Onreey Stewart, who has missed the last three Trojan games is also still sidelined, with hopes to get back within the next couple of weeks.
