The Derry Trojan baseball team made it three wins in a row Tuesday, as they battled back from 1-0 and 5-3 deficits, to defeat second place Ligonier Valley at Grandview Field.
Again it was Paul Koontz in relief of starter Ryan Hood, picking up the mound win. The senior threw the final 3 1/3 inning’s and allowed just two earned runs while striking out five. Hood finished with two strikeouts, however he walked six batters.
Ryan Bushey continued his hot hitting going 3-4 with two RBI. Matt McDowell was 3-3 with three runs scored and three RBI, while Brayden Mickinac also smacked a single and double, and had a pair of runs batted in. Sophomore Antonio Hauser also joined the Derry 12-hit parade, with a single and a two-bagger.
Nick Beitel, Lucas Mills and Haden Sierocky each had two hits for LV.
Sierocky added a double, while Beitel tripled.
The Trojans, now (3-2) (2-2) will travel to LV tomorrow for a 4:00 game.
